Despite such operations no longer being secret, it seems they can still happen.
Is Kristof right? Or is this also just going to get passed by? As this morning’s Guardian article pointed out, Israel is no longer even mentioned on the BBC News home page.
I just emailed Jaki before I took off…hoping to see her here. I can’t believe she’s gone.
Message from the Deans:
To the Tufts Community:
With great sadness, we write to inform you of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Jaki Leverson. Jaki passed away on Friday, May 28 after a long battle with cancer. She was the long-time Resident Director of the Tufts-in-London and Tufts-in-Oxford programs, serving the university from 1982 to her retirement in 2009. Beloved and respected by students and colleagues alike, Jaki was the face and spirit of Tufts in Great Britain. She worked tirelessly to enhance the academic (and non-academic) experience of countless Tufts students who attended these two programs.
A scholar of international politics and history, with a BSc from University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and an M.Litt at Linacre College, University of Oxford, Jaki worked and taught at Oxford, Cambridge, and the American Institute for Foreign Study prior to her appointment at Tufts. Jaki was a citizen of the world and also worked in Israel, Italy, and Japan at various points in her career. The pinnacle of her career was her work at Tufts, and she served the university and its students with extraordinary dedication and love.
This is truly a loss for our community.
Jaki is survived by her mother and her aunt. A celebration of her life
will take place in the fall at Hillel. A gift in Jaki’s memory can be
sent to Ms. Brigette Bryant; 80 George St.; Medford, MA 02155.

Yes this is a little old…but its such a clever example of attention-grabbing advertising! I’m impressed
Its 2:30 am, I’m on page 19 (still) and thinking about going to sleep for a few hours. Somehow, xkcd is always perfect for these moment.
